Connecticut wines handcrafted at Priam Vineyards placed the Colchester vineyard at the top of two international wine competitions in 2020, earning Connecticut Winery of the Year in both the 10th Annual New York International Wine Competition and the 6th Annual Berlin International Wine Competition held in Germany.

This was the fifth consecutive year Priam Vineyards has been recognized as the state’s winery of the year at the international competition held in New York City. Judging results were recently announced from more than 1,400 wine submissions from large producers as well as boutique wineries in over 24 countries.

Priam Vineyards, a solar-powered winery and sustainable vineyard nestled in Colchester’s Salmon River Watershed, also brought national distinction to Connecticut and the CT Wine Trail as the only winery in the state to be featured in the recently published book “Hidden Gems of America: Wineries & Vineyards 2020-2021.”

“Receiving this level of recognition validates the core values of sustainability and pure process we use in our winemaking, and rewards all of the hard work and creativity we’ve put into making our vineyard thrive,” said Priam Vineyards founder and co-owner Gloria Priam.

Priam Vineyards is on the Connecticut Wine Trail at 11 Shailor Hill Road off Route 149 in Colchester. It is the first winery in New England to be vegan certified by BevVeg International for meeting the strictest standards of vegan compliance in production practices from soil to bottle. The award-winning wines produced by Priam Vineyards are estate grown, blended, bottled and cellared on premises. The vineyard has been declared a nature conservation area by the World Wildlife Federation, and is a popular site for weddings, corporate events, holiday gatherings and is a year-round getaway for wine tastings, concerts, family outings, and picnics.
