It’s 2021, and since veganism is going mainstream we wanted to share our list of 11 of the best vegan apps that are making the most impact!
Our phones have become not only an essential device to connect with friends and family but a resource loaded with useful tools.
Having a simple mobile app that can locate the nearest restaurant, or help you find veggie alternatives is crucial.
Wondering what to make for dinner? Plant-based recipe apps can help. Want to eat healthier? There’s a vegan app for that too.
Take a look at 9 vegan apps we’ve focused on to make your vegan life easier!
1. abillion
abillion is a free app that helps you find vegan options everywhere, from vegan food items you’ve never tried yet to sustainable goods.
Their mission of building a following of abillion vegans and their total philosophy of giving back to 60 organizations, is truly in line with what our values are at Pureveganlifestyle and why we think it is definitely worth checking out.
You will be joining a community of like-minded people to find amazing sustainable plant-based food and products whilst helping causes and organizations that protect animals, the planet, and people.
An added bonus for signing up for the app is that abillion donates $1 USD to one of the 60 global animal sanctuaries per every product review you send them!
The app is available on iOS and Android. It’s also available on the web although using the app provides more features and a better user experience.
2. Food Monster
Food Monster is the brainchild of Onegreenplanet.org, with a rating of 4.5 stars, and for good reason too. It is the largest vegan, plant-based, and allergy recipe resource we know of, containing up to 15,000 delicious recipes with 40 new recipes added each week.
You will definitely be able to find something suitable for your taste. The app enables you to browse vegan recipes by cuisine, diet type, season, and ingredients. It also groups recipes by popular themes, such as veggie burgers, raw vegan desserts, and dairy-free cheeses.
It provides features and meal plans broken down by diet type and theme and it allows you to share recipes with people on social media and via email.
The only snag is that you have to make in-app purchases to see all the recipes. The free basic version is still pretty useful and it is one of the best vegan apps you can have on your phone if you want easy access to tons of ideas for your vegan diet.
3. Oh She Glows
The Oh She Glows App is a plant-based recipes app with crisp design and beautiful photography.
It has 5-star reviews on both Google Play and the App Store, so it’s easy to see why this recipe book for vegans is such an excellent choice!
The app offers beautifully designed white space that accentuates colorful photos of mouthwatering dishes like Roasted Lemon Carrots or Stuffed Acorn Squash – perfect for when you’re looking up what healthy meal ideas are available!
You can also search by dish type and season, which makes finding just the right vegan options really convenient.
Each recipe has nutritional info that is very detailed and the app has an anti-lock capability, which means you won’t have to continuously unlock your phone with wet or food-filled hands.
To us though, its stand-out feature is that it allows you to customize recipes and add your own notes as it suits you.
However, it only offers approximately 160 plant-based recipes and it costs $1.99 for iPhone users and $2.49 for Android users.
4. BevVeg
People are often surprised to hear that drinks also contain animal products. The bevVeg app helps you know what drinks are actually vegan. It lists more than 1 million options, ranging from vegan liquor and vegan wine to vegan beer.
You can browse through the database or use the wine scanner to check for certified vegan brands before you buy. It also allows you to rate and add comments on your favorite drinks so they can grow their collection.
BeVeg makes it easy for you! Simply search the app for the drink of your choice and see how many different brands are available as well as their certifications from independent organizations like PETA.

It has guides for more than 180 countries, so you can find vegan food almost anywhere.
Supporting about 12 languages, the app allows you to search restaurants by keyword or filter. With a database of over 120,000 vegan-friendly businesses, its interactive maps help you find the nearest open restaurants.
It allows you to see reviews and save restaurants you like in your favorites, but all these need to be done online. The app also covers stores, coffee shops, farmers’ markets, food trucks, B&Bs, and hotels. You can also order delivery or take out.
And finally, the community feature lets you connect with others from the Happy Cow App to make new friends locally or abroad. You can also upload and share pictures of the foods you find.
The HappyCow App costs $3.99 for iPhone and Android, but there is a free Android version with limited capabilities.

9. Cruelty Cutter
Saving Animals by simply swiping a bar code? So far, so good. Let’s take a look at how this app works;
Cruelty-Cutter is all about ethical shopping made easy.
People can avoid items that have been tested on animals by scanning the barcode of an item and receiving a response as to whether or not it is cruelty-free. The scanner also provides stats about how many users are against animal testing, so companies can see where their consumers stand. All this information will be collected for future use in convincing these companies to stop using animal tests!
This app has made shopping easy with Cruelty-Cutter’s fast scan of any product; just snap a photo from your phone instead of wasting time reading labels at stores. Scanning reveals if products you’re considering were ever subjected to cruel practices like skin irritation studies (which include rabbits), and a whole host of cruel practices against other animals.
It’s free, super easy to use, and good for both ios and Android.
10. Forks Over Knives
Brought to you from the same founders of the critically-acclaimed Forks Over Knives film, the Forksoverknives recipe app has a 4.7 rating and gives you 400+ delicious recipes, updated weekly with new dishes!
